Help Center
Can I claim UIF if resign?
You cannot claim if you have resigned, been suspended or absconded from work.

You can only claim unemployment benefits if you have been dismissed, retired, retrenched or if the contract has expired.

For how long can I claim UIF?
Unemployment- UIF can be claimed for 12 months, provided that you have full credit days. Credits accrue as follows: for every four days that you work as a contributor, you receive one day's credit, subject to a maximum of 12 months. To qualify for the full credit days you must have worked as a contributor for more than four years.

Maternity - By law you are not allowed to return to work within 6 weeks after the birth of your baby and can claim up to a maximum of 121 consecutive days (four months) maternity leave from the Department of Labour.
How is UIF Calculated?
You can expect to receive somewhere between 38% – 58% of your monthly salary (up to a salary limit of R14,782). The less you earn, the bigger the percentage. If you are paid hourly and your salary fluctuates, then you can claim on the average of the last 6 months.
Please note!
If you claimed at a labour center we can not assist you, nor can we follow up on your claim.

We are not not the department of labour. All queries regarding manual claim must be taken up with your labour centre.
